Resto Druid Info

This is mainly for my fellow Lanakila tree friends as I thought it would be nice for all of us to share info on being a tree, ie resto druid.

Tree Blog Rollcall:
http://www.resto4life.com/ - Unfortunately retired but the inspiration and admired by resto druids. There was something about the way Phae wrote that brought inspiration and pride into being a Tree. She really has done a lot for the Tree blogging community by providing helpful posts, suggestions, and overall fun reads. She inspired me so much that when she asked for screenshot submissions for her farewell post, I could not help but submit one: (http://www.resto4life.com/2009/03/19/resto4life-farewell-photo-album/)
Sydera of World of Matticus did a really nice post about Phae's influence: http://www.worldofmatticus.com/2009/02/24/a-fond-farewell-to-phaelia-of-resto4life/
Wear your Phaelia's Vestment of Sproutling with pride!

http://treebarkjacket.com/ - Recommend reading this post (http://treebarkjacket.com/2009/02/24/474/) for a nice comic about Phaelia's retirement.

http://hotstree.blogspot.com/ - Unfortunately HoTs Tree hasn't been updated in a while, but has informative posts about resto gear and resto'ing up to ToC.

Things to Make You Go Hmmmmm

These posts are ones that I have found to be interesting and have made me re-think things, whether it be my specs, how I heal, gear, gem, glyph, etc etc.

Happy New Years! (six days late)
2009 started off with a meh as my asthma was bad. Nothing like starting off a new year worrying about being able to breath with all the firework smoke out and about. Maybe it was because of the weather, but at one point our view of Waikiki was obscured by all the firework smoke, which made my brother think Waikiki had a power outage.

2008 ended on a pretty good note. For one thing, there was the Christmas party I had with my friends on the 27th. Ah, I gotta remember to stop drinking so much. After a certain time (I think around midnight) I hardly remembered anything except that I ended up praying to the porcelain god. And thankfully I had the time to clean the house on the 26th before the power went kaput. In some ways that was kinda neat as the view from my house allowed us to watch as portions of Kaimuki and Waikiki lose power. Kinda sucked that my area was one of the first to lose power. Thankfully I had cleaned most of the house by then.

But the party was great except we had too much food and too many people who had eaten beforehand. I also gotta remember that for next time. And it's funny I was worried about not having enough food. Oh well, next time we'll go for pupus all around. I also gotta practice being a "good" host and move among my guests. Ah screw that, more whiskey!

Here's to hoping for a good 2009. So far, it's been pretty good despite my asthma.

DRATS!
or the spoiled by Blizzard post.

With WotLK (Wrath of the Lich King) expansion out, I've been busy leveling my druid up to level 80. As usual, I'm sorta taking my time and enjoying the scenery and quests so to speak. Unlike TBC (The Burning Crusade) xpac, this time around I'm leveling as a kitty, ie druid talk for kicking ass and killing things quickly, instead of as a tree, ie druid talk for it takes me forever to kill one thing. Why? For one thing I have way better gear this time, which a great big thanks goes out to my guild for helping and allowing me to get. And I must say it has been quite nice kicking ass and taking names, doing my bunny attack (feral charge move that makes my cat form look like it's taking a huge leap at the target, quite hilarious to see), and basically being one bad ass cat. But....I miss being a tree, I miss having 6 different ways to heal someone, I miss being in the back watching health bars and going "ohshitohshitohshitohshit!!!!!!" when the tank's avatar starts blinking red (meaning he/she is low on life and death is very close). And as I leveled my druid closer and closer to the magic number 80, my desire to heal again has grown stronger and stronger.

Funny side note: I must like nurturing and/or healing things because recently I've been trying to rejevunate one of the shrubs at my house (half of it has no leaves). I've also been thinking about planting some plants or something in my backyard. Reminds me of this comic: http://threepanelsoul.com/view.php?date=2007-04-16

So last night I decided to stay up all night playing and trying to get my druid up another level, and thus be one level closer to 80. I logon, start questing, and bam! [SERVER SHUTDOWN]: 15:00 pops onto my screen. Argh. My plan of staying up all night to level was ruined. So instead of a crazy tale of how I powered through two levels and reached level 80, I leave you with these:

The World of Warcraft turned 4 this past Sunday, and to celebrate sent everyone a Baby Blizzard Bear. Big mahalos to mauichic for making sure I got the Baby Blizzard Bear. Somehow I felt like a papa bear. Or would that be a mama bear since my druid is female? Interesting enough my druid has a talent called "Mother Bear."

Achievements. First one was for dressing up in my Brewfest outfit, getting drunk, and dancing in Dalaran. I barely escaped from the cops. Second was feeding [Critter Bites] to 10 non-combat pets under 2 minutes. It was quite funny (and cute) having an entourage of penguins. They followed my druid wherever she went and consistently formed a half-circle around her, which made her feel like dancing.....whoo.....dancing....

All in all, I must say I've been enjoying WotLK for 90% of the time. There is way more Warcraft lore intertwined in the quests and such than TBC (they even have characters from the WoW novel books). You even get to participate in an epic battle or two. Some of the quests are new in execusion, although some are a pain in the ass to do until you use WoWhead to tell you what you need to do. I also think it helps that I am leveling much quicker this time around, either because I am better prepared (yes I am prepared!) or leveling is a tad bit easier. Or maybe both. With TBC, I was gaining one level every week. With WotLK, I seem to be gaining a level every few days. Man, I can't wait to be able to go back to being a tree and healing.

Oh the stuff you discover in a new world. Of course for me it's the World of Warcraft: Wrath of the Lich King. A friend helped me get into one of the main cities (Dalaran) in WotLK, and wow. I'll try to post pictures and stuff later, but the developers did a good job. And it was fun running around and discovering new things, things like:
- If you are Alliance, do not enter the area with Horde flags.
- The gnome diver pet is not for sale.
- The pet store is quite neat and sells some really neat novelties.
- One such novelty let's you play fetch with your vanity pet. The ganomie loved it, but i think it'll be expensvie for her considering she has like 63 vanity pets.
